In-world expressions/expletives are one of the more fun elements of world-building for me. I mean, sure, a magic system is good and all, but you don't really know your fictional society until you know how they suss each other out ;)

"Hawks above" is one such example in this world. These itty bitty fairies are a tempting treat to many larger predators, so this expression is their equvalent of "screw it" essentially.
